Bilbao Airport has a single three-level terminal, which caters to all arrivals and departures. The airport is modern, with up-to-date facilities and amenities as well as a pleasant design created by the famous architect, Santiago Calatrava.
Airlines servicing the airport include: Air Berlin, Air Europa, Lufthansa, Iberia, Air France, easyJet and Vueling, with regular flights to destinations such as Dublin, London Heathrow, London Stansted, Lisbon, Frankfurt, Brussels, Milan, Madrid and the Canary Islands.
There are also convenient links to other airports in Spain. The Departures section of terminal is a little tricky to get around, as check-in is located on the top floor (P2), while boarding gates are either on the mezzanine (P1) or the ground floor (P0), accessed via a 300-metre long glass observation tunnel. However, the Arrivals area is straight forward, with a spacious Baggage Claim Hall on P0.
Bilbao Airport has some of the most modern and complete facilities and amenities of any Spanish air facility, and through constant improvements the airport has maintained its high standards.
There are two airport information desks: one in the Check-In Hall on P2 as well as one on P0 in the Baggage Claim Hall. Tourist and business help desks are located on P0 and P2 as well. Once you have passed security on P2, you will find a selection of restaurants, cafés and bars as well as a duty-free shopping area. There are some regular shopping outlets on each floor selling snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, print media and last minute items. Additional facilities include a meeting place, parents' room, medical centre and a pharmacy.
Both P0 and P2 have ATM machines, with two on P0 and six on P2. There is also a currency exchange booth on P0, in the Baggage Claim Hall. Two VIP lounges, one on P1 and one on P2, offer limited business facilities. There are no postal or conference facilities at Bilbao Airport and passengers requiring these services must make arrangements at a nearby hotel, such as the Hotel Andrea or Hotel Restaurante Loiu.
Disabled passengers are well taken care of by the modern amenities and facilities at Bilbao Airport. The terminal has the latest in modifications, such as adapted lifts, telephones and toilets, and there are ramps across the terminal, at entrances and in the parking lots. Passengers requiring wheelchairs should contact their airline in advance, while assistance can be provided by staff upon request.
